More on how I work…
I use my skills and experience to see where a person may be stuck or held in a pattern, and I offer guidance toward unraveling patterns and freeing stuck places in order to guide clients toward more freedom of choice and far more meaningful awareness in their bodies and lives based on what is possible in an unforced setting. What does unforced mean? It means we are not attempting to control our experience or force our body to do something, rather having a dialogue in which the body is allowed to show us what it is capable of.
Many times this begins with the physical realm, but it often transcends many layers of the self including psychology, mindset, and spiritual work. This is not a fast process, although there may be periods of time during the work that give rise to rapid transformation. If one considers that some patterns have potentially been present for months, years or even since birth, it becomes apparent that navigating those things can take quite some time.
Through an ongoing slow and mindful practice, there is so much that can be uncovered and navigated.
**this way of working is based primarily on how I work in my own body. If you have any interest in learning about that in writing (another way would be to take a class, especially the gentle or inner yoga series…) then have a peek here.
“Anya baut ihre Yogastunden sehr sorgfältig auf, hat einen präzisen Blick für die individuellen Schwierigkeiten und unterstützt dabei, sich den blinden Flecken anzunähern. Ich schätze sehr, dass sie Zusammenhänge erklärt und erfahrbar macht und ermuntert nicht einfach zu kopieren, sondern zu erkunden wo was ist möglich. Herzlichen Dank Dir !!!”
“I'm 68 years old. In April 2024, I began experiencing significant sciatic nerve pain. In past years I had surgery and then injections to alleviate the pain - but it always came back eventually. After four months of working with Anya online, I am pain free. I have not used any drugs, injections or surgeries. I only did the movements that Anya suggested.”
“I suffer from chronic back pain that has kept me from engaging many things in my life. Her techniques, encouragement, and focus on mind-and-body connections and gentle movement has been incredibly impactful [in a short amount of time]--and her focus on the process and incremental changes makes her approach practical for me in my day-to-day hectic life.”
“4 months before I started attending Anya’s classes, I was flat on my back with a back injury and could not move for 2 days. I also had 8 years of foot problems, plantar fasciitis, and repeated injuries which orthotics eased symptoms but did not address underlying issues. 4 months into Anya’s classes, my lower back and foot problems were completely gone, and I’ve never looked back. Now 1.5 years into consistently attending Anya’s yoga classes, I’m training for my first Olympic triathalon and have been injury free for the longest stretch of time in 10 years.”
“Anya is a rare teacher who incorporates the latest research on movement, neuroscience, and mindfulness into beautifully sequenced classes. As a yoga teacher, I am discerning about who I study with and I'm grateful to have found Anya's online offerings to re-inspire and advance my practice.”
“I have taken yoga classes with Anya on and off for the past 7 years. I appreciate how her yoga teaching style and my yoga practice have evolved and aligned over time. Her knowledge of anatomy and how the body is connected is vast and she incorporates that into her classes in an understandable and accessible way. I enjoy how she gives the time to explore how movements, big and small, feel in my body. She is also incredibly aware and attentive to her students and is quick to offer modifications if needed.”
“Anya's deep understanding and actual love of how the body moves makes her an inspiring teacher. Each time I practice with her I discover more parts of myself on so many levels. She is wonderful!”
